Report: Hardaway makes way to NBA draft
Michigan guard Tim Hardaway Jr. will follow teammate Trey Burke and enter the NBA Draft, Yahoo! Sports reported Wednesday.
Hardaway, a junior on the Wolverines' national runner-up team, averaged 14.2 points and shot 37.4 percent on 3-pointers this season. With Hardaway and Burke, Michigan had what many experts considered the best backcourt in the country.
Hardaway, an All-Big Ten pick this past season, is projected as a second-round pick by analysts in the NBA Draft in June. He has developed his ballhanding and defensive skills in his time at Michigan while continuing to improve his shooting.
"There might be some teams that view him as a first-rounder," Draftexpress.com's Jonathan Givony told the Detroit Free Press. "people are all over the board on him. Some people really like him, some people think he's not an NBA player, period, and they wouldn't even draft him in the second round."
Michigan coach John Beilein also is awaiting work on whether freshmen Mitch McGary and Glenn Robinson III will return next season.
Burke, a sophomore who won national player of the year honors, announced last week that he was forgoing his final two seasons with the Wolverines to enter the NBA Draft.
