Report: D'Backs deal for RHP Kennedy

Right-handed pitcher Ian Kennedy has been acquired by the San Diego Padres, who will send left-handed reliever Joe Thatcher, minor-league pitcher Matt Stites and a future draft pick to the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to ESPN.

Kennedy, 28, is 3-8 with a 5.23 ERA in 21 starts this season, but is only two years removed from being a 21-game winner.

The Southern California native is earning $4.265 million in 2013 and is arbitration-eligible in the offseason.

Thatcher, 31, has a 2.10 ERA in 50 relief appearances this season for the Padres.
