Report: Cromartie injury not serious

The SportsXchange

An MRI taken on New York Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie, who sustained a noncontact knee injury during practice Thursday, revealed only a hyperextension, according to ESPN.

The team was initially concerned that the injury could be serious, but the test showed otherwise. Still, Cromartie's status for Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers is uncertain.

Cromartie was listed on the injury report after practice for the first time in his career with a knee injury and "limited." Coach Rex Ryan did not elaborate on the injury.

Cromartie, a Pro Bowler last season, has not missed a game due to injury in three-plus seasons as a Jet.

The Jets only have two other healthy cornerbacks in Darrin Walls and nickelback Kyle Wilson.

Dee Milliner was demoted as starter in Week 3 after a hamstring injury sidelined him the past two games and he has not practiced. He is not expected to return Sunday. Walls has started the past two games.
