Report: Chiefs settled on Joeckel

Texas A&M offensive tackle Luke Joeckel will go from protecting Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel to keeping defensive linemen away former No. 1 overall pick Alex Smith in Kansas City, according to a CBSSports report.

The Chiefs have settled on Joeckel at No. 1 overall in next week's NFL Draft, a source told CBSSports' Jason La Canfora. The report said the Chiefs considered Central Michigan offensive tackle Eric Fisher, but decided Joeckel was a safer pick.

Kansas City added Smith in an offseason trade with the San Francisco 49ers and also hired Andy Reid as head coach. They will make the No. 1 overall pick after going 2-14 last season.
