Redskins' defensive workbooks found in a dumpster

The Washington Redskins always keep us entertained.

The same team that reportedly had medical records stolen from the car of an athletic trainer had its defensive plays in the hands of a fan who found it in a dumpster.

It’s not technically the team’s playbook — those are on tablets now — but a fan who would identify himself only as Josh called up 106.7 The Fan and told them he found three discarded “defensive workbooks” and a notebook from undrafted rookie linebacker Ejiro Ederaine, who was cut last week.

Josh, via the Washington Post, said the workbooks contained various audibles and assignments.

“It has what you do in a hot route, what his assignment would have been, what the guy next to him’s assignment would have been,” Josh said on “The Sports Junkies” show. “It has breakdowns and handwritten things of the new calls, like the defense changed the call or whatever,” he said. “He scratched it out and put the new verbiage for it. I mean, it’s got everything.”

The Redskins aren’t concerned about the missing books. The Redskins told the Washington Post “there is no proprietary information” in the workbooks. Josh said he contacted the Redskins on Wednesday, and as of Thursday he hadn’t heard back from the team.

Josh told the radio show he was cleaning out his truck in a hotel parking lot near the Redskins’ facility when he saw some Redskins shorts and a backpack with the NFL’s “Play 60” logo. Inside the backpack were the workbooks and the notebook.

So if you want to know more about the Redskins’ defensive scheme, we’ll see if Josh shares any more of what he found.
