Rays activate reliever Crain

The Tampa Bay Rays activated reliever Jesse Crain on Monday.

The All-Star is active for the first time since the Rays acquired him from the Chicago White Sox on July 29. He has been out with a right shoulder strain.

Tampa Bay is trying to complete a four-game sweep of the Baltimore Orioles.

Crain was named to the American League All-Star team even though he has not pitched since June 29. The 32-year-old has a 0.74 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 46 strikeouts in 36 2/3 innings.
