Ravens terminate Williams contract
The Baltimore Ravens announced Friday that they have terminated the contract of vested veteran guard Bobbie Williams.
"We were fortunate to have a man like Bobbie Williams on the Ravens last season," Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said in a statement. "His contributions and significance to the team went far beyond his play on the field - and he responded on the field every time we called him. Bobbie is first-class in every way."
Williams played 13 years in the NFL. He played in 13 regular-season games and all four postseason games for the Ravens last season.
Meanwhile, the Baltimore Sun reported the Ravens are expected to make a significant offer to linebacker Dannell Ellerbe before Tuesday's deadline. If a deal is not reached by then, Ellerbe becomes a free agent.
Last season, Ellerbe had 4.5 sacks in 13 games, including seven starts.
The report suggests Ellerbe, not pass rusher Paul Kruger, is Baltimore's No. 1 priority.
