Pro Bowl draft to air on NFL Network

The NFL Network will televise the first Pro Bowl draft on Jan. 22, the league announced Thursday.

The draft is part of a format change decided upon in July in an attempt to revitalize the NFL's annual all-star game.

Pro Football Hall of Famers Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders are the captains for the draft and will have a say in which players end up on the two teams. Unlike previous years, there will be no NFC or AFC squads.

A total of 88 players -- selected in voting by fans, players and coaches -- will be placed into the draft. The results of the balloting will be announced on Dec. 27.

The draft will begin on Jan. 21 with offensive and defensive linemen and special teams players. Those selections will not be televised live.

The Pro Bowl is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on Jan. 26.
