Despite ending the season much sooner than anyone would have wanted, it is now time to turn our attention to most fans second most favorite time of year. The NFL Draft. This year, the Eagles front office won’t have far for their phone call to travel with the draft taking place in Philadelphia.

Growing ever closer by the day, many fans have already begun to turn their focus towards the upcoming NFL Draft. While free agency remains between the draft and us at this current moment, the draft is the only area where the team controls its own destiny, at least in some sort of form.

With the Draft now just over a month away, we are closing in on the second best part of the NFL year. With the combine now over, the realtick towards the draft has begun. Without further ado, we present week ten of the “Philadelphia Eagles potential first round draft picks.”

3. Gareon Conley — Cornerback — Ohio State

An unknown until earlier this month, Gareon Conley has rocketed up draft boards in recent weeks. Now seen as a potential first round pick, I think that the Philadelphia Eagles could find a long term answer to their cornerback woes with the selection of Conley. For one thing, he possesses almost all the traits you look for in a starting corner.

Starting every game over the last two seasons at Ohio State, Conley also has the starting experience many teams look for. Being an every down defensive player, Conley is someone that can step in and be a day one starter. While there are some concerns about him, most the weaknesses that he shows are fixable by good coaching.

Recording four interceptions last season, Conley was a consistent force for the Ohio State defense. While he will need some work and time to adjust, he does have the potential to be a day one starter in the NFL. Should the Eagles choose to select Conley with their first round pick, they will likely feel the same way.

2. Christian McCaffrey — Running Back — Stanford

Making my first big player change, the Philadelphia Eagles target Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey instead of FSU running back Dalvin Cook. Why this change? The more I look at the two players, the more I feel McCaffrey is a better choice as an every down back. Possessing some solid receiving skills, McCaffrey would give Carson Wentz another dangerous weapon.

A talented running back, receiver, and return man, McCaffrey is the future of the Philadelphia Eagles backfield. While the team still does have Darren Sproles, McCaffrey could easily replace him in the future while still handling the running duties as well. Add in that he is the son of a NFL Hall of Famer and the pick makes real sense at this stage.

Despite seeing a drop in stats last season with Stanford, McCaffrey was actually a more productive player in the running game. Averaging 6.3 yards per rush last season, McCaffrey showed that he is an amazing talent. A much better all around player than both Fournette and Cook, McCaffrey could be the best running back taken during this draft.

1. John Ross — Wide Receiver — Washington

Running a record setting 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, John Ross has come out of nowhere to be in contention for the first round. While the top two receivers in this draft class remain to be Mike Williams and Corey Davis, John Ross has closed the gap significantly thanks to the pure speed that he has shown off.

Reminding some of DeSean Jackson, John Ross was even a fan of the former Eagles receiver. Heck, he even admitted that he was a fan of Philadelphia when they had Jackson on their roster. Given his love of Jackson and Philadelphia, Ross would be the pefect selection for the Eagles as long as he remains on the board.

While his shoulder surgery could cause some issues going forward, Ross looks set to be taken in the first round. Given the Eagles need for a future star at the wide receiver position, this pick makes all the sense in the world.
