Percy Harvin to undergo hip surgery

The season hasn't even officially begun yet, but the Seattle Seahawks have already absorbed a big loss.

Star wide receiver Percy Harvin revealed tonight that he'll need to have hip surgery after receiving a second medical opinion.

It's unclear how long he'll be sidelined, but Harvin is expected to miss a significant portion of the season after being acquired in a trade this offseason from the Minnesota Vikings for a first-round draft pick, seventh-round draft pick and third-round draft pick and being signed to a six-year, $67 million contract.

"When everything is goin good sometimes life throw u a curve ball," Harvin wrote on his official Twitter account. "Sorry to half to report that my injury will require surgery.Nobody was more anxious and excited about season, but I will be back strong as ever. I appreciate all the love and prayers 12th man."
