Panthers Fall to Eagles, 45-21
Greg Olsen had a big night receiving, but it wasn't enough to avoid a bad defeat for the Panthers against the Eagles, 45-21, in Philadelphia.
Cam Newton was marred by turnovers, finishing 25 for 40 with 306 yards passing, three picks and one fumble, he also got two touchdowns. Mark Sanchez had a better game for the Eagles, and wound up 20 for 37 with 332 yards passing, two touchdowns and no interceptions.
Jonathan Stewart gained 36 yards on 11 carries with a score in addition to four receptions for 23 yards. Olsen was a top performer, snagging six passes for 119 yards.
The Carolina defense managed to keep the running game in check, but could not slow down the aerial attack, giving up 37 yards rushing and 332 passing. They got to Sanchez once for a sack.
Eagles wide receiver Jordan Matthews had a big game, putting up 138 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Tight end Brent Celek also performed well with 116 receiving yards.
Next week, the Panthers host the Falcons (3-6) while the Eagles head to Green Bay to face the Packers (6-3).
