Padres' Gyorko goes on disabled list

San Diego Padres rookie second baseman Jedd Gyorko, who left Sunday's game with a right groin strain, was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Monday.

Gyorko joins Padres first baseman Yonder Alonso on the disabled list.

.Gyorko, 24, is hitting ,284 with eight homers in 60 games this season. He has hit all eight of his homers since the start of May and is hitting .309 in that span.

The Padres hope Gyorko will be ready to return when he's eligible to be activated.

Logan Forsythe was activated from the 60-day disabled list to replace Gyorko on the active roster.
