Packers won't pick up Derek Sherrod's option

Packers tackle Derek Sherrod is set to become a free agent after the 2014 season.

That's because Green Bay has decided not to pick up Sherrod's fifth-year option, according to a report from ESPN.com. Sherrod was the 32nd overall pick in the 2011 draft.

Though he was selected late in the first round, he hasn't been able to live up to his billing. As a rookie in 2011, he severely broke his leg late in the year and missed the entire 2012 season as a result. He wasn't able to play until November of last year.

With David Bakhtiari and Bryan Bulaga on the roster, it may be tough for Sherrod to crack the starting lineup this year either.
