The crowd at Ralph Engelstad Arena in North Dakota got to go home Friday in a good mood after witnessing one of the goals of the season.

The Fighting Hawks beat the Denver Pioneers 2-1 in overtime, thanks to this gorgeous spin-o-rama goal from sophomore Shane Gersich.

Poor Will Butcher and poor Tanner Jaillet.

Afterward, Gerisch, a 2014 fifth-round pick by the Washington Capitals, said the move was inspired by Patrick Kane.

“Sometimes, in practice, you mess around and do that stuff,” Gersich said via Brad Schlossman of the Grand Forks Herald. “Me and Brock (Boeser) always watch Patty Kane and he always does a little spin-o-rama. It was late in the shift. I thought their ‘D’ was tired. I was tired, too. I just spun around and fired it on net and luckily it went in.”
