Nov 19 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Tuesday's National Hockey League games. - - - Canadiens 6, Wild 2 Montreal left winger Max Pacioretty scored three straight goals in the second period and Canadiens goaltender Carey Price made 25 saves to end the Minnesota Wild's four-game winning streak. Pacioretty entered the night with two goals in 12 games and had not scored since Oct. 12 but broke loose. David Desharnais and P.K. Subban both recorded two assists in the triumph. - - - Blues 4, Sabres 1 Left winger Brenden Morrow scored two goals to lead the St. Louis Blues to a win over the Buffalo Sabres. Right winger Vladimir Tarasenko and left winger Magnus Paajarvi also scored for the Blues (14-3-3), who bounced back from a rare loss Sunday against Washington. - - - Maple Leafs 5, Islanders 2 Right winger Phil Kessel scored twice and center Trevor Smith had a goal and two assists as the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the New York Islanders. Joffrey Lupul added three assists for the Leafs (13-7-1) who have won three of their past seven games. The Islanders (8-11-3) have lost six of their past eight matches. - - - Bruins 2, Rangers 1 Tuukka Rask stopped 43 shots to spoil the long-awaited return of Rick Nash and guide Boston Bruins to victory. It was Nash's first game back since he suffered a concussion Oct. 8 at San Jose and missed 17 games due to the injury. Rask saved five of Nash's shots, and the Bruins (14-6-1) got goals from Shawn Thornton and Daniel Paille in the second period. - - - Flyers 5, Senators 2 Defenseman Kimmo Timonen and right wing Wayne Simmonds scored 23 seconds apart in the third period to lift the Philadelphia Flyers to a victory over the Ottawa Senators. The burst put Philadelphia ahead 4-2. Timonen added two assists for the Flyers (8-9-4) who improved to 4-0-1 in their last five games. - - - Predators 2, Red Wings 0 Goaltender Marek Mazanec made 27 saves in posting his first NHL shutout in the Nashville Predators' win over the Detroit Red Wings. In just his fifth NHL game, Mazanec helped Nashville (10-9-2) hand the Red Wings (9-6-7) a seventh straight loss and eighth consecutive defeat on home ice. - - - Kings 5, Lightning 2 Center Anze Kopitar and right wingers Justin Williams and Matt Frattin each had a goal and an assist as the Los Angeles Kings defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning. Los Angeles (15-6-1) won for the sixth time in seven games to move within one point of the Pacific Division-leading Anaheim Ducks with a game in hand. Playing without perennial All-Star center Steven Stamkos for the fourth consecutive game, Tampa Bay (14-7-0) lost consecutive games for the first time this season. - - - Avalanche 5, Blackhawks 1 Goaltender Semyon Varlamov made 36 saves, center Paul Stastny scored a goal and an assist and the Colorado Avalanche beat the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks. Remarkably, it was the first time Chicago (14-4-4) has been held to less than two goals this season. John Mitchell, left wingers Gabriel Landeskog and Cody McLeod and right wing P.A. Parenteau also scored for Colorado (15-5-0). - - - Oilers 7, Blue Jackets 0 The Edmonton Oilers solved their home woes in spectacular fashion, pounding the Columbus Blue Jackets. David Perron led the way with two goals as the win snapped a six-game home-ice losing streak in which the Oilers had been out-scored 23-3. - - - Panthers 3, Canucks 2 (shootout) Florida center Jonathan Huberdeau was the only scorer in the shootout as the Panthers earned a win over the Vancouver Canucks. Canucks left winger Chris Higgins hit the post on Vancouver's final attempt as the Canucks (11-8-4) saw their losing skid stretch to five games.
