NFL-National Football League roundup

Jan 29 (The Sports Xchange) - Seattle Seahawks running Marshawn Lynch cut short another mandatory Super Bowl media session on Wednesday in Jersey City, N.J. Lynch, known for avoiding interviews, hopped over chairs to escape reporters after facing questions for 6 minutes, 47 seconds. On Tuesday, Lynch exited the Super Bowl media day in the Prudential Center after 6 1/2 minutes. "I appreciate it," Lynch said of the media wanting to speak with him. "But I just don't get it. I'm just here so I don't get fined." Lynch, wearing headphones, was noticeably uneasy during Wednesday's session and climbed over the chairs to leave because he was hemmed in by Seahawks teammates Robert Turbin and Michael Robinson. - - While previous Super Bowl sites such as Atlanta and New Orleans have been blasted by unusual winter weather in recent days, the prospects of good conditions for Sunday's Super Bowl at MetLife Stadium is getting better and better. On Super Bowl Sunday, the high is now expected to be 44, and while there could be some rain or wintry mix during the day, it appears any precipitation will be gone by game time of 6:30 p.m. ET. The drop in temperature as darkness hits is only expected to be a low of 27 and, more important, winds should be negligible. - - Official practice report for Wednesday, ahead of Super Bowl XLVIII, to be played Sunday in East Rutherford, N.J. The Pro Football Hall of Famer does not think the former New York Giants defensive lineman deserves enshrinement. Strahan, now a television personality and analyst, is one of 15 finalists for induction. This year's class will be announced Saturday. Sapp has questioned Strahan's season sack record of 22 1/2 set in 2001. Strahan was credited with his final sack that season on a play that Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre appeared to take a dive. - - Brian Gaine is out as the Miami Dolphins' assistant general manager after the team announced an agreement to a mutual parting. Gaine came to the Dolphins in 2008 and served as the team's assistant GM in 2013. - - The St. Louis Rams dismissed Tim Walton as defensive coordinator after one season on the job. ESPN reported that the Rams plan to hire former New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams to replace Walton. Walton was named to the position last year after joining the Rams from the Detroit Lions, where he worked for four years as the secondary coach. - - The Baltimore Ravens made two coaching staff moves, naming Steve Spagnuolo as secondary coach/assistant head coach and hiring Brian Pariani as tight ends coach. Spagnuolo joined the Ravens in 2013 as a senior defensive assistant. His extensive NFL experiences includes serving as defensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints in 2012 and New York Giants in 2007-08 and as head coach of the St. Louis Rams from 2009 to 2011. - - Green Bay Packers outside linebacker Clay Matthews had the pins removed from his surgically repaired right thumb last week, according to FOXSports.com. Matthews originally injured his thumb in Week 5 against the Detroit Lions and then had surgery, missing the following four games. He re-injured his thumb in Week 16 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Daly is a 17-year coaching veteran, including eight seasons in the NFL as an assistant.
