NFL-Highlights of Saturday's NFL games

Dec 24 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of National Football League games on Saturday: Packers 38, Vikings 25 Aaron Rodgers is healthy and the Green Bay Packers are hot. The Green Bay quarterback put on a clinic as the Packers extended their winning streak to five games with a 38-25 victory over the Minnesota Vikings at Lambeau Field on Saturday. Rodgers was 28 of 38 for 347 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. The Packers (9-6) will play for the NFC North championship at Detroit on Jan. 1. The Vikings (7-8) lost for the eighth time in 10 games and were eliminated from postseason contention. Patriots 41, Jets 3 Tom Brady threw for three touchdown passes in less than three quarters, LeGarrette Blount ran for two touchdowns and Stephen Gostkowski kicked the 300th field goal of his NFL career, leading the New England Patriots to a 41-3 blowout of the woeful New York Jets. The win, their sixth straight, moved the Patriots (13-2) closer to securing home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs. Brady departed late in the third quarter, finishing 17 of 27 for 214 yards and, again, no interceptions. He has just one pick in the 11 games since coming back from his four-game Deflategate suspension -- and the 214 yards left him 53 yards shy of passing Dan Marino for fourth place on the all-time list. Titans 38, Jaguars 17 The Jacksonville Jaguars ended a franchise worst nine-game losing streak with a surprise 38-17 victory over Tennessee that dealt the Titans' playoff hopes a crushing blow. The Titans (8-7) will be eliminated from the AFC South race if the Houston Texans beat the Cincinnati Bengals later on Saturday. A bleak day for Tennessee got worse when quarterback Marcus Mariota incurred a fractured fibula when he was sacked in the third quarter. Dolphins 34, Bills 31 (overtime) Andrew Franks drilled a 27-yard field goal with 47 seconds left in overtime after making a 55-yard kick late in regulation as the Miami Dolphins continued their playoff push with a 34-31 road victory over the Buffalo Bills. The loss eliminated Buffalo from playoff contention for the 17th straight season, extending the longest postseason drought in major North American sports. Jay Ajayi rushed for 206 yards and a touchdown for Miami. He also set up Franks' winning field goal. Redskins 41, Bears 21 Kirk Cousins ran for two touchdowns and passed for another as the Washington Redskins kept their playoff hopes alive with a 41-21 over the Chicago Bears in half-empty Soldier Field. Cousins distributed the ball effectively and Chris Thompson scored Washington's first two touchdowns -- on a 7-yard run and a 17-yard reception -- as the Redskins (8-6-1) raced out to an early 17-0 lead. Falcons 33, Panthers 16 Matt Ryan threw two touchdown passes and Matt Bryant kicked four field goals as the Atlanta Falcons inched closer to claiming the NFC South title with a 33-16 road victory against the Carolina Panthers Ryan's first scoring pass set a franchise single-season record at 33 touchdown strikes and sent the Falcons (10-5) on their way to their third consecutive victory. Browns 20, Chargers 17 A stout defense and a blocked field goal late in the contest helped the Cleveland Browns hold off the San Diego Chargers 20-17 for their first victory of the season. Browns starting quarterback Robert Griffin III was knocked out of the game with a concussion in the fourth quarter. (Editing by Andrew Both)
