NFL-Extra point kicks become more difficult

May 19 (Reuters) - The NFL has voted to make extra point attempts more difficult by moving them back to the 15-yard line, while also allowing defenses the opportunity to score, the league announced on Tuesday. Extra points were previously snapped at the two-yard line, but the NFL's owners approved rule changes by a vote of 30-2. The changes now also allow defenses an opportunity to score two points if they return a blocked extra point attempt, or a failed two-point conversion, to the opposite end zone. Extra points had become something of a routine exercise following touchdowns and were rarely missed. However the changes will leave coaches with the decision of trying for the longer kick for one point, or attempting a two-point conversion from the two-yard line.
