Nets' Lopez has foot surgery

Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez had surgery to replace a screw in his right foot, the team announced Monday.

He is expected to be ready to resume basketball activities in August. That suggests he'll be fully recovered by the start of training camp on Oct. 1.

The screw implanted in a previous surgery had become bent, the New York Post reported. The bent screw was discovered in Lopez's postseason physical, and it was replaced.

Lopez averaged 19.4 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.1 blocked shots last season, when he made his first All-Star appearance.
