NBA roundup: Garnett may be out two weeks

Celtics forward Kevin Garnett has inflammation in his injured left ankle and needs about two weeks to recover, Boston president of basketball operations Danny Ainge told ESPN Boston on Monday.

Ainge thinks that Garnett injured the ankle last Wednesday against the New Orleans Hornets and then played on it at Dallas on Friday.

Garnett did not practice Monday and is listed as doubtful for Tuesday's game against the visiting New York Knicks. He did not play Saturday at the Memphis Grizzlies, instead returning to Boston for an MRI.

The Celtics want to make sure Garnett is healthy for the start of the playoffs.

"I'll guess two weeks, just because we want to make sure he's really ready," Ainge said.

---Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade will sit out his second straight game on Monday because of a sore knee, the team announced.

---The Dallas Mavericks announced they signed free agent guard Justin Dentmon to a 10-day contract.

Dentmon averaged 26.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 22 games with the Texas Legends this season after getting traded from the Austin Toros.

---Houston Rockets rookie Royce White will report back to Rio Grande Valley of the D-League and could play on Tuesday, Yahoo! Sports reported.

White is dealing with an anxiety disorder, and less than a week ago, he left the D-League team and returned to Houston.
