MLB roundup: Phillies' Ruiz activated

Philadelphia Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz completed his 25-game suspension for a positive drug test and was activated from the restricted list on Sunday.

Ruiz, 34, had tested positive for an amphetamine after a career year in 2012 when he hit .325 with 16 home runs and 68 RBI in 114 games.

He was in the lineup and batted fifth on Sunday for the Phillies' game against the New York Mets. He went 1-for-4.

To make room for Ruiz on the 25-man roster, the Phillies designated catcher Humberto Quintero for assignment.

---The Chicago White Sox placed right-hander Gavin Floyd on 15-day disabled list with a flexor muscle strain in his right elbow.

Floyd was injured in the third inning of the White Sox's 10-4 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday.

Reliever Deunte Heath was recalled from triple-A Charlotte to fill Floyd's spot on the roster. Hector Santiago likely will take Floyd's place in the starting rotation.

-- Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki left Sunday's game in the third inning with a strained left shoulder and is considered day-to-day.

The Rockies also promoted top prospect Nolan Arenado and designated third baseman Chris Nelson for assignment, according to the Denver Post.

---The Cleveland Indians recalled catcher Yan Gomes and left-hander Scott Barnes from Class AAA Columbus and placed catcher Lou Marson back on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation.

Marson's moved is retroactive to April 25, and he has been bothered by the shoulder periodically since spring training.

----Los Angeles Dodgers prospect Yasiel Puig was arrested in Chattanooga, Tenn., early Sunday and charged with speeding, reckless driving and driving without proof of insurance, the Los Angeles Times reported.

---The Los Angeles Angels placed left-handed reliever Sean Burnett on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 27, because of irritation in his left forearm, MLB.com reported.

---The Oakland A's activated outfielder Yoenis Cespedes from the 15-day disabled list and designated outfielder Casper Wells for assignment to clear a spot on the roster.

Cespedes was out with a strained muscle in his left hand.

---The Arizona Diamondbacks reinstated Jason Kubel from 15-day disabled list. He was out with a strained left quadriceps muscle.
