Mike Tomlin on Ravens rematch: 'Tell Jacoby he's safe'

Last Thanksgiving, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin found himself on the field, right in the path  of Ravens' kick returner Jacoby Jones. Jones, who almost certainly would have scored otherwise, was tackled at the 22-yard line.

On Thursday night, the Steelers travel to Baltimore for the first time since the Stanky Leg incident. Naturally, Tomlin was asked about it during Tuesday's conference call with reporters.

"Tell Jacoby he's safe," Tomlin said with a laugh.

The league fined Tomlin $100,000 but didn't take away a draft pick, which it had initially threatened to do. At the time, he called his actions "embarrassing."

"I take full responsibility for my actions, and I apologize for causing negative attention to the Pittsburgh Steelers organization," he said in a statement last year. "I accept the penalty that I received."

Not surprisingly, Tomlin wasn't interested in reliving the play Tuesday.

"I really don't care, to be honest with you," the coach said. "It's a non-factor in terms of what I'm doing in terms of preparing for this opportunity and obviously what needs to happen for us in the stadium. I don't tote those bags."

While Jones has nothing to worry about, we'd like to take this opportunity to give Ravens punter Sam Koch a heads-up (as it were).
