Mets recall Duda from minors

The New York Mets recalled outfielder Lucas Duda from Class AAA Las Vegas on Saturday and optioned outfielder Mike Baxter to Las Vegas.

Duda batted .235 with a .353 on-base percentage, 11 home runs and 23 RBI in 68 games before going on the disabled list with an oblique strain in late June.

After he finished a minor league rehab assignment, Duda was optioned to Las Vegas. In 18 games, he batted .306 with no home runs and three doubles. Because he spent less than 20 days in the minors after being optioned, he still has a minor league option for next year.

Baxter has batted just .188 in 16 at-bats since being called up earlier this month.

Duda can also play first base, but Ike Davis has batted .272 in 41 games since being recalled from the minors.
