Former LSU coach Les Miles is looking for a new job and he’s hired a new high-powered agent to help him find it.

Trace Armstrong, one of the most powerful sports agents in the country, has been added to Miles’ agency team in order to get Miles back in coaching again. Armstrong also represents Ohio State’s Urban Meyer, Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly, Houston’s Tom Herman and Penn State’s James Franklin.

“I’m fighting like heck trying to win a championship at another place,” Miles told The Baton Rouge Advocate on Friday.

Part of Miles’ buyout clause from LSU requires him to make an effort to find new employment. That buyout money starts rolling in Monday when Miles receives a $133,000 check as the first payment from the $9.6 million settlement that is spread out over the next six years.

If Miles were to find new employment, his new salary would offset those buyout payments.

This year’s college football job market stands to be the most lucrative in some time. Outside of Miles’ former job at LSU, there’s an opening at Baylor and could be an opening at Texas before the year’s end. There are a slew of other jobs that could be open both by firings and the trickle-down effect of coaches moving to other openings.

Miles, 62, was fired on Sept. 25, one day after LSU lost 18-13 at Auburn. He holds the highest winning percentage in modern-day LSU history (.770) and is second on the school’s all-time wins list with a record of 114-34.
