Josh Sampo Misses Weight at The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale Weigh-ins

UFC newcomer Josh Sampo may not have made the best first impression to his new employer, stepping on the scale at Friday’s The Ultimate Fighter 18 weigh-ins one-and-a-half pounds overweight.

UFC officials on Friday announced that Sampo would not re-weigh. He instead was fined 10-percent of his fight purse, a portion of which goes to his opponent, Ryan Benoit.

None of the other fighters on the 10-bout fight card had an issue making weight.

Sampo (10-2) makes his way to the Octagon fresh off of a defense of his CFA flyweight championship, which put his current victorious streak at four consecutive fights.

Benoit (7-2) makes his way to the Octagon from Legacy Fighting Championship, where he has won all four of his bouts. Out of his seven overall victories, Benoit has knocked out six of his opponents; the other win was a submission finish.

Sampo vs. Benoit kicks off the fight card and is the only bout scheduled for the online prelims that will stream live on MMAWeekly.com.
