Jets' Redmond rushed to hospital

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Zach Redmond went to the hospital after being slashed on the back of the leg during Thursday's morning skate.

"We were trying to get our extra players conditioned, and there was a one-on-one battle at the net where he tripped up and landed on his back," Jets coach Claude Noel told reporters. "(Another) player happened to step on him and cut him just above the back of the knee. It's a fairly wide cut, so we will take him to the hospital and see what the diagnosis is."

Jets' medical and training staff rushed from the dressing room to the ice when the incident occurred. Noel said Redmond stayed conscious and coherent throughout the ordeal.

"He lost a fair amount of blood and I think he's in some pain," Noel said. "We got it tied up and got some pressure on it."
