Jays' Brett Lawrie to miss rest of season with strained oblique
The Blue Jays on Tuesday moved third baseman Brett Lawrie to the 60-day disabled list, thus ending his 2014 season. Lawrie has been sidelined since Aug. 5 with a strained oblique. Earlier this year, he missed 36 games because of a fractured index finger.
For the time being, Danny Valencia and Juan Francisco figure to continue sharing third base duties in Lawrie's absence.
Lawrie, 24, ends his season with a line of .247/.301/.421 (100 OPS+) and 12 homers in 70 games played. He'll be arbitration-eligible for the first time this upcoming offseason.
