Jacare Souza Ready for UFC Return, Wants Title Shot or Vitor Belfort

Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza is ready to return to the Octagon, and he wants a title shot in his comeback. And if he can't get that, Souza wants to scrap with Vitor Belfort.

The fighter's manager, Gilberto Faria, told UFC Tonight that Souza is nearly 100-percent healed from his February elbow surgery and desires a fight with someone in the upper echelon of the division.

With a middleweight title fight set for July 5 at UFC 175 between champion Chris Weidman and challenger Lyoto Machida, Jacare said he wants to fight the winner. If one of the two has to bow out for any reason, Souza said he'll gladly step in as a replacement.

Jacare said in March that he wanted to fight the winner of Michael Bisping and Tim Kennedy, according to his manager. But with Wednesday's news, Souza has changed his mind and wants a higher ranked opponent.

Jacare entered surgery earlier this year for nagging elbow issues that plagued him during training camp for his last fight. He said back then that he targeted a return to fighting in August.
