Indians sign Matsuzaka to minor league deal

The Cleveland Indians signed right-hander Daisuke Matsuzaka to a minor league contract, CBS Sports reported Sunday.

Matsuzaka can earn up to $4 million if he makes the major league club, according to the report. He will also be reunited with manager Terry Francona, who managed him with the Boston Red Sox.

Matsuzaka made just 11 starts last year for Boston after having Tommy John surgery in 2011. He went 1-7 with an 8.28 ERA in 2012.

In six years with the Red Sox, Matsuzaka was 50-37 with a 4.52 ERA over 116 starts.
