Memphis Grizzlies forward-center Brandan Wright told Yahoo Sports he expects to be out six to eight weeks, barring any setbacks, after he undergoes arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Thursday.

Wright has been sidelined since injuring the knee against the Utah Jazz on Nov. 7. The 6-foot-10, 240-pounder opted for surgery after treatment, rehabilitation and rest didn’t help the knee. Wright averaged 6.6 points and 3.4 rebounds in seven games this season.

Wright was selected with the eighth overall pick in the 2007 NBA draft. The nine-year NBA veteran signed a three-year, $17.1 million contract with the Grizzlies during the off-season.

“I want to be as close to 100 percent as possible [when I return],” Wright told Yahoo Sports.
