Giants K Josh Brown Suspended One Game
New York Giants kicker Josh Brown has been suspended one game for violation of the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
What Brown did to violate the personal conduct policy has not been specified but what is known is that Brown will miss the season opener Sept. 11 against the Dallas Cowboys.
Brown also did not go into details regarding why he is being suspended.

“While I do not agree with the suspension, I will accept it,” Brown said in a statement. “I have exhausted the appeals process and have no other options along those lines. I will continue to work hard for this team and I have tremendous confidence in my teammates and my ability to move on and contribute to the team.”
Giants head coach Ben McAdoo also addressed the situation with his kicker.
“We have been supportive of Josh and will continue to be,” McAdoo said. “But we accept the league’s decision.”
The NFL was also mum on why Brown is being suspended but James Kratch of NJ Advance Media is reporting that the King County (WA) Sheriff Department arrested him on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge in May 2015.
An unnamed victim called 911 from a residence in Woodinville, where Brown and his wife reside. According to the police report, the victim had a small cut and redness on the wrist.
Brown is entering his fourth season with the Giants after tenures with the Seattle Seahawks, St. Louis Rams, New York Jets, and Cincinnati Bengals.
Last season, he made 30 of his 32 field goal attempts, connecting on a career high 93.8 percent of his kicks, earning the first Pro Bowl nod of his career. His first miss of the season came at the end of regulation of a 23-20 Week 13 overtime loss to the Jets.
Now that the Giants will not have Brown available for the season opener against Dallas, some decisions will need to be made regarding kickers.
Currently, the Giants only have one other kicker on the roster: Tom Obarski. Obarski played collegiately at Division II Concordia University in St. Paul, Minn. Obarski just finished participating in his first NFL training camp.
The Giants will be looking to bring in kickers as early as this week. In addition, veteran kickers Mason Crosby, Josh Scobee, and Greg Zuerlein are on the market.
