Gasol gets treatment for ailing knees

Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol underwent a successful procedure on both knees Thursday, the team announced.

Dr. Steve Yoon of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Group performed a FAST Technique on Gasol's knees. A probe was inserted into Gasol's knees directing ultrasound wavelengths to debride degenerated tissue of Gasol's patellar tendons.

Gasol, 32, also will receive stem cell injections to stimulate tissue regeneration next week.

The 7-foot Gasol struggled with injuries during the season that included a concussion, a torn plantar fascia and the knee problems. He missed 33 games

The Lakers said Gasol should be able to return to basketball activities in approximately 12 weeks.
