Gaming Update: 'Titanfall,' 'Battlefield 4,' 'Watch Dogs,' 'Destiny,' 'Dead Rising 3'
Last week, Xbox 360 gamers finally got Titanfall's first map pack, EA released new information about Battlefield 4's next DLC, Ubisoft addressed the controversy surrounding hidden graphic files, PlayStation gamers got something to brag about and Capcom announced Dead Rising 3's PC arrival.
Titanfall "Expidition" DLC Comes to Xbox 360
Xbox 360 gamers finally got their hands on Titanfall's "Expidition" DLC last week. The title's first map pack was released in May for XBO and PC gamers. Three maps are included: Swampland, Runoff and Wargames.
Alongside the pack, 360 gamers will also get Game Update 3, which also arrived for the other platforms in May. It will give them the ability to create custom load out names and the option for two dedicated custom loadouts per game mode.
"Expidition" costs $9.99 for the Xbox 360 and is included in Titanfall's $25 Season Pass.
Battlefield 4's Dragon's Teeth DLC Detailed
More information about Battlefield 4's latest DLC ,"Dragon's Teeth," has arrived. Gamers will find four new maps: Lumphini Garden, Pearl Market, Propaganda and Sunken Dragon. It will also feature five new weapons, 10 assignments, a couple of gadgets (like the remotely operated ground vehicle R.A.W.R.) and a new game mode called Chain Link, where you win by linking capture points together.
A release date has not been announced, but the DLC is expected to be released this summer. Gamers with a premium subscription will be granted access to the pack two weeks ahead of everyone else.
Ubisoft Responds to Uproar Over Watch Dogs PC settings
Ubisoft found itself on the defensive last week after modders discovered hidden graphic files in the PC version of the game that upgraded its appearance. The company insists they did not intentionally downgrade the game's graphics for PC gamers, but opted against using the better visuals due to the negative impact they could have on other areas of the game.
"The PC version does indeed contain some old, unused render settings that were deactivated for a variety of reasons, including possible impacts on visual fidelity, stability, performance and overall gameplay quality," wrote the development team on Ubisoft's Watch Dogs website. "The mod in question (which uses the old settings) subjectively enhances the game's visual fidelity in certain situations but also can have various negative impacts."
PlayStation Will Have Exclusive Content for Destiny Until Fall 2015
Activision has confirmed that all PlayStation-exclusive DLC for the highly anticipated game Destiny will remain exclusive until fall 2015. The content includes the Exodus Blue competitive multiplayer map and a three-player co-op mission called Dust Palace Strike, in addition to select weapons like the Monte Carlo assault rifle and the Hawkmoon hand cannon, ships and gear. PS4 gamers will also get a 30-day free trial for PlayStation Plus.
Beta opens up July 17 for PS3 and PS4 gamers who've pre-ordered the game and at a later date for Xbox 360 and Xbox One players. The title itself will hit shelves Sept. 9.
PC Release Date Announced for Dead Rising 3
Dead Rising 3 will hit Steam on Sept. 5. The Capcom game, which was previously only available on Xbox One, will cost $50.
The developer has already addressed concerns about the frame rate and quality of play, saying performance depends largely on your setup. "While Dead Rising 3 is optimized to run at 30 frames per second for gameplay reasons, you can expect it to still run fine uncapped under most conditions provided you have capable enough hardware. We can't guarantee that there won't be issues, and obviously depending on your rig, you may see different results. Rest assured the beefier your gaming machine, the smoother your zombie killing experience will be," wrote developer wbacon on the game's discussion board.
