Florida linebacker Christian Garcia said he stopped a man who was sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman behind a bar Thursday morning.

Garcia told First Coast News that he works at the 101 Cantina in Gainesville and was taking out the trash around 2 a.m. when he heard something happening behind a dumpster. From FCN:

According to the linebacker, he was taking out the trash when he spotted the two by the dumpsters. Initially he thought they were just having sex. But once he got further he noticed the girl was unconscious.

“The girl was basically unconscious, so I knew there was no way she could be giving consent,” Garcia said.

A 34-year-old man, Christopher Shaw, has been arrested on sexual battery charges in relation to the incident. Garcia said Shaw got away after he grabbed Shaw to break up the incident. Shaw allegedly then “threw a few punches” and escaped.
