Florida Atlantic 76, Louisiana-Monroe 71

Freshman guard Jackson Trapp hit back-to-back 3-pointers to key a second-half rally for Florida Atlantic, and the Owls ended a three-game losing streak with a 76-71 victory over Louisiana-Monroe in a Sun Belt Conference game Thursday night in Boca Raton, Fla.

Trapp's triples gave the Owls (11-12, 6-6) a 64-63 lead with 5:06 remaining. Gregg Gantt and Pablo Bertone also followed with 3-pointers, and the Owls had a cushion they would never give up.

The visiting Warhawks (3-14, 2-9) led 45-36 at the intermission after closing the first half on a 10-1 run.

The Owls, however, took less than seven minutes to catch up, tying the game at 49-49 on Stefan Moody's free throw at the 13:28 mark.

Louisiana-Monroe was back up by five points, 63-58, on Amos Olatayo's layup with 6:05 remaining before Trapp hit his second and third 3-pointers of the game.

Trapp was one of five Owls in double figures, finishing with 10 points. Gantt led the team with 19, Moody added 16, Bertone 13 and Richard Morrow a career-high 11. Morrow also had 13 rebounds

The Warhawks' Olatayo led all scorers with 25 points.

The win gave Florida Atlantic a split of the two-game season series with Louisiana-Monroe.
