Start — DeVante Parker — Wide Receiver
Of the top three Miami Dolphins receivers, the only truly healthy one entering Sunday’s game at San Diego is DeVante Parker. Both Jarvis Landry and Kenny Stills missed out on practice on Thursday due to some injury problems and while their status for Sunday is unknown — Landry will likely play — this development should mean good things for Parker.
With Parker having struggled so far this season, this week could be the break he has been looking for. Still recovering from a hamstring injury he suffered in the preseason, Parker has shown flashes of brilliance while also playing extremely poorly for a first round pick. This week should break into the brilliance category.
As for Stills, he has been battling problems all year including a illness last week against the Jets. With Stills potentially out, Parker could get a shot at being the deep ball receiver. Given his size and potential, this week is probably the best shot for fantasy owners to see some value this season and he should definetly be in consideration for a starting spot.
Drop — Ryan Tannehill — Quarterback
For the same reasons I have DeVante Parker listed as a starter, I have Ryan Tannehill listed as a drop. With a worst case scenario of both Jarvis Landry and Kenny Stills being out, Tannehill would be forced to rely on Parker as well as rookies Jakeem Grant and Leonte Carroo. That doesn’t bode well for fantasy value, especially on a team quickly being dominated by Jay Ajayi.
While there is a good chance one of Stills or Landry plays, their injury could slow them down enough to the point where they are not a solid target. The tight ends and running backs also add some value for Tannehill but not enough to warrant him as a starter. If Carroo and Grant can prove themselves as solid receiving targets, this situation may change in the future, but for now, keep Tannehill on your fantasy bench.
