Early fantasy waiver wire options for Week 3

Yahoo Sports Fantasy Football expert Liz Loza reveals her top three waiver claims for Week 3 based on Sunday’s early game results.

Jonathan Stewart exited with a hamstring injury, which put Fozzy Whittaker into action. He carried the ball 16 times for 100 yards to go with three receptions for 31 yards. A fumble won’t endear him to coaches but if Stewart is unable to go next week against a tough Minnesota Vikings defense, Whittaker could be a desperation play. He’s currently available in over 90 percent of Yahoo leagues.

For those in need of help in a point per reception league, Dallas Cowboys receiver Cole Beasley is a widely available option. He has been targeted 18 times in two games, becoming a security blanket for rookie quarterback Dak Prescott. He caught five balls for 75 yards in Sunday’s win over Washington. A friendly matchup against the Chicago Bears is on the docket for Week 3.

Tight end has been a tough position to find worthy options on the waiver wire, but San Francisco 49ers TE Vance McDonald is worth your attention. He caught a 75-yard touchdown against a stout Carolina Panthers defense. While that turned out to be his only catch of the day, he does have two scores on the season and should continue to see targets in games the 49ers are playing from behind.
