Dodgers, Cubs swap relievers Guerrier, Marmol

Los Angeles Dodgers acquired reliever Carlos Marmol from the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday for pitcher Matt Guerrier and their fourth international signing bonus slot.

That slot is worth $209,700 from their $2,112,900 total, the Dodgers said. The Cubs banked money Tuesday, also receiving $388,100 from the Baltimore Orioles in a deal that involved Scott Feldman and money from the Houston Astros for minor-league Ronald Torreyes.

The Cubs also agreed to pay nearly $2 million of the $4.8 million left from Marmol's $9.8 million salary this season, according to Yahoo!'s Tim Brown. Guerrier is still owed close to $1.8 million.

Marmol posted a 5.86 ERA in 27 2/3 innings. He started the season at closer, but was removed after allowing five runs in his first three appearances. Los Angeles will send the righty to the minors, according to ESPN's Keith Law.

The 34-year-old Guerrier posted a 4.80 ERA in 30 innings for the Dodgers this season. He signed a three-year, $12 million deal in December 2010.
