Dan Miller Welcomes Jordan Mein to the Octagon at UFC 158′s Welterweight Fest

The UFC is going to be prepared come hell or high water if someone falls out of the UFC 158 welterweight title bout between Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz.

The promotion on Friday added its fifth welterweight bout to the card, bringing Strikeforce transfer Jordan Mein in to face UFC veteran Dan Miller.

Mein (26-8) enters the Octagon off back-to-back wins over Forrest Petz and Tyler Stinson. His only loss in his last nine trips to the cage was of the split decision variety against Strikeforce title contender Tyron Woodley.

He faces no easy task in his UFC debut, stepping in the Miller, who has spent the past four and a half years fighting in the Octagon.

Miller has been one of the UFC’s go-to guys for short notice fights, and it has cost him. After losing consecutive bouts to Nate Marquardt and Rousimar Palhares, however, Miller dropped from middleweight down to welterweight, righting the ship with a third-round submission win over Ricardo Funch at UFC on FX 4 last summer.

The two will be part of at least 10 welterweights on the UFC 158 fight card on March 16 in Montreal. Georges St-Pierre puts his UFC welterweight championship on the line against Nick Diaz in the night’s main event.
