Curt Schilling got lit up on Twitter by Missouri's former Secretary of State
Curt Schilling might want to ease off on the old “tweet” button after this. The former Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Red Sox pitcher got into an exchange with former Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander, and it ended with a scorching burn.

The whole thing started when Kander appeared on the HBO show “Real Time with Bill Maher.” He talked about several important political topics of the day, including the new Supreme Court nominee and the recent raid in Yemen. A number of clips were posted on Twitter, so here’s just one for you to sample:

At no point did Kander mention Schilling at all, but he mentioned topics that Schilling has very strong opinions about. And so Schilling decided to tweet at Kander about their differing opinions, and he did it with the subtlety and grace of an 18-wheeler walking a bride down the aisle at her wedding.
@JasonKander what a piece of garbage you are. Pains me to say that about someone that served but man you need an ass whipping

It “pains” Schilling to say such things to someone like Kander who served in the military (he was an Army Intelligence Officer in Afghanistan), but he’s going to do it anyway.
Kander didn’t take offense, though. He had a measured and devastating response.
Enjoyed watching you play. Better luck next year with the Hall of Fame balloting. That Rule 5 character clause can be a drag, huh? https://t.co/kZqne1U3tL

“That Rule 5 character clause can be a drag, huh?” Ouch. Kander is referring to Schilling’s Hall of Fame vote total, which took a dip in 2017. Of course, we don’t know if that’s definitively due to Schilling’s non-stop controversial comments, but it’s likely part of it. I imagine after that tweet showed up in Schilling’s notifications, his computer burst into flame and started to melt in front of him. Because that was one righteous (and polite) burn.
Schilling probably *should* ease off the “tweet” button for awhile, but he probably won’t. He’s sure to have more to say as baseball season gets closer and closer, so grab some popcorn and get ready.
