Crimson Tide's Fowler likely out for the season

Alabama Crimson Tide backup running back Jalston Fowler is likely out for the season after suffering a knee injury on Saturday, head coach Nick Saban told reporters.

Fowler writhed in pain late in the fourth quarter of the Crimson Tide's 35-0 win against Western Kentucky, and had to be helped off the field.

"He feels badly and we feel badly for him, too," Saban said. "We're going to miss him," Saban said. "It's going to take a number of people to replace him on the various roles he played on our team."

Starting running back Eddie Lacy has been slowed by injuries, making the loss of Fowler tougher to endure. Lacy missed spring practice after surgery to repair a turf toe injury, then sprained his ankle near the end of fall practice. His carries have been limited this season.

Without Fowler, Alabama has three fully healthy running backs, all freshmen.
