Corey Maggette: Traded to Pistons

Update: Maggette (knee) was traded to the Pistons in exchange for Ben Gordon and a protected first-round draft pick Tuesday, the Pistons' official site reports.

Recommendation: Maggette will be an expiring contract in the 2012-13 season providing the Pistons with a year of salary relief in the deal since Gordon's deal doesn't expire until after the 2013-14 season. It'll be curious to see what the Pistons do with Maggette. He's a talented scorer who can get to the line, but Maggette is also known to be a tragic defender who stops the ball on offense. The Pistons will most likely use him as a scorer off the bench, find some way to trade his expiring contract, or buy him out. Without the Pistons making another move to trade Tayshaun Prince, which seems unlikely, Maggette probably won't have a lot of value as long as he's on the Pistons.
