Conor McGregor Would Demand Even Money to Make Floyd Mayweather Fight Happen

Conor McGregor Reportedly to Appear on ‘Game of Thrones'

In a perfect world, Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather is a fight that could happen. That perfect world, however, would require Money Mayweather to do something he's not generally inclined to do: give up some green.

According to McGregor's coach, John Kavanagh, it would take Mayweather agreeing to an even split of the money generated in order for his fighter to accept the most rumored fight in history that has few roots in reality.

“There was talk that Conor would get $7 million and Floyd would get the rest of it. It will be an even share or Conor will not do it,” Kavanagh said in an interview with the Sunday Business Post. “There is no one generating the type of media that Conor is.”

“It would have to be an even split. Conor is not going to take it if Floyd is getting more than him. Floyd needs Conor more than Conor needs Floyd right now.”

Although Kavanagh could be right about that, it's highly unlikely that Mayweather would agree to such a split.

For the record-setting Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao boxing match that was years in the making, Mayweather commanded the lion's share of the money. He reportedly earned somewhere in the neighborhood of $220 million, while Pacquiao took him roughly $150 million.

If Kavanagh's assessment is on target, a boxing match between Mayweather and McGregor could send the Irishman's stock through the roof. The UFC champion's coach believes his fighter has a style that could lead him to victory, even in the squared circle.

“Floyd is amazing. He is incredible. I don’t think there is a boxer who could beat him,” said Kavanagh, before adding, “He has figured out boxing, but Conor doesn’t move like a boxer.”
