Coming into spotlight, Andre Brown has some lofty goals
One of the reasons the New York Giants released Ahmad Bradshaw, besides lingering injuries, was the depth the team has at the position.
The club invested a first-round draft pick in David Wilson last year and Andre Brown showed promise before suffering a broken leg in late November.
Now, Brown, a restricted free agent, is forecasting big things for himself with the plan for him and Wilson to share the workload in the backfield.
“This is my year,” Brown said, according to the team’s Web site. “I have to go out there and I have to produce. I feel like this is a very important season and I have to go out there and show the world what Andre Brown is made of.”
Brown scored eight touchdowns last season and rushed for 385 yards on 73 carries, an average of nearly 5.3 yards per carry. He’s projecting big numbers moving forward, real big. Brown wants to rush for 1,300 yards and score 22 touchdowns. He envisions himself as the complete package, the back for short yardage, third down, pass protection and everything in between.
“I can’t wait to do it,” he said. “Because I want to show, other than (scoring) the one-yard touchdown, I want to show more than what I have. I feel like I’m a home run hitter, too. As long as I go out there and produce and show the world my versatility, the sky’s the limit.”
