Chip Kelly has little to say about NCAA probe of Oregon
Chip Kelly’s regime as coach of the Philadelphia Eagles moved to the practice field for the first time on Tuesday as the team began a voluntary three-day minicamp amid reports there was “at least one major” NCAA violation while he was at Oregon.
There have been rumors of an investigation at Oregon into the football program’s recruiting tactics and Kelly has denied that had anything to do with his decision to leap to the NFL for the first time in his career after initially rejecting inquiries from Philadelphia and Cleveland after the end of the college season. The Oregonian reported the school and the NCAA have agreed that a major violation took place while Kelly was the coach.
“I am aware of the recent reports and of the ongoing investigation being conducted by the NCAA and the University of Oregon,” Kelly said in a statement released by the Eagles. “While at Oregon, I know we were fully cooperative with all aspects of the investigation and I will continue to contribute in any way that I can. But until the NCAA rules on the matter, I will have no further comment.”
