Cavaliers paying Bynum during suspension
Cleveland Cavaliers center Andrew Bynum will continue to be paid while he is on suspension, ESPN.com reported Sunday.
Bynum was suspended indefinitely Saturday for conduct detrimental to the team. He was docked one day of pay -- about $111,000. He missed Saturday's game against the Boston Celtics.
He remains excused from all team activities. That includes Sunday's game against the Golden State Warriors.
Bynum was suspended after an incident at Friday's practice, but the decision was reportedly due to the culmination of several incidents that occurred over the last several weeks.
The Cavaliers are looking into trading Bynum, who has reportedly lost the desire to play after missing all of last season with knee injuries.
The team has until Jan. 7 to decide on guaranteeing his contract for the rest of the season. Bynum signed a two-year, $24 million deal in the summer but only the $6 million remaining for the second half of this season is guaranteed.
Bynum is averaging 8.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 24 games this season.
