Matt Holliday, who was originally scheduled to play left field and bat third for the St. Louis Cardinals in Sunday's Game 6 of the National League Championship Series, was scratched from the starting lineup about 90 minutes before the game because of stiffness in his back. Holliday is just 4-for-21 with no extra-base hits and no walks in the first five games against the Giants. He has hit just one homer in the month of October. Matt Carpenter was inserted into the lineup in Holliday's place. Carpenter started the game at first base, and Allen Craig moved from first base to left field.
