Cardinals agreed to two-year deal with Brinkley

Free agent inside linebacker Jasper Brinkley agreed to a two-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals, the team announced Thursday.

Financial terms of the deal were not announced.

Brinkley, who visited the team Thursday, had a career-high 117 tackles, three forced fumbles and two sacks with the Minnesota Vikings last season. He was a fifth-round draft pick in 2009.

Cardinals.com reported that Brinkley's signing means the team likely will stop pursuing free-agent linebacker Rey Maualuga.

Cornerback Antoine Cason of the San Diego Chargers also visited the club Thursday and defensive end Matt Shaughnessy of the Oakland Raiders is expected to visit Friday.
