Here we are in midst of a traditional ravishing art like, elegantly colorful, often unintentionally visually unforgettable, yet physically crisp and often damp western New York autumn in beautiful Buffalo Bills country.

Many find themselves feeling so alive right here and right now during season number 57 of the Bills franchise existence sitting at an attractive 4-2 record which is an accomplishment any year, any time, for most any team. Compiling those stats after a highly deflating 0-2 start on a team that continues to keep the historical playoff drought alive in unique fashion year after year. Somehow by December they find themselves on the outside looking in….is quite the noble feat.

As quickly as things change in football, a bad snap, injury or undisciplined penalty can change the course of an entire NFL season. The Buffalo Bills injury list alone would probably have me somewhat forcing a trade for a wide receiver and that is just one of many reasons I am not and NFL General Manager. That is not very optimistic of me and yes I am self aware.

In the late 80’s and 90’s I was very over confident that a post season appearance was just part of the routine of an NFL franchise. I come to find out since 1999 that I was wrong on so many levels. Enough about the weather and enough about the past and on to:

Things we know about the Buffalo Bills This Week

The Bills finally have their first round draft pick Shaq Lawson healthy, active and ready to begin his NFL career. The Clemson standout who many thought would be long gone by the time Buffalo selected, accumulated 20 sacks, over 45 tackles for a loss and 123 total tackles in his time with the Tigers. Hopefully now he can put the shoulder injury which was finally repaired in the past and begin a hall of fame career in the NFL. Welcome to real live NFL action Shaq!!

McCoy and Felton returned from injuries and practiced with the team on Friday which was an unexpected and pleasant surprise. I am sure it will still be a game time decision if they play, but that is much better outlook than it originally appeared on Wednesday and Thursday.

Charles Clay — the expensive and aggressively acquired tight end — has been very engaged and making plays the past three weeks. That is great news to have that threat at that position for Tyrod Taylor and for the team. He is the player on offense I will be watching closely as Shaq will be on defense if indeed he gets time on the field.

The drive for five is on when the Bills wear white jerseys over blue pants in Miami on Sunday. Buffalo has not won five games in a row since 2004. This game is very winnable, but I said that about the Jets and Ravens games and that backfired.

If Lorenzo Alexander can get a sack against the Dolphins, he would become the first player since 2011 to start a season with seven consecutive games with at least one sack. Go squish that Miami quarterback Fish Alexander and make us proud.

You have been hearing often during presidential debates and rallies to get out there and vote and make your voice heard. Just a reminder to do the same thing for the pro-bowl voting so Buffalo can represent.
