Buccaneers are better than we thought

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers pulled off arguably the biggest upset of the NFL season, taking down the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead, 19-17.

With Marcus Peters out for Kansas City, Jameis Winston was able to have a field day: He tossed 24 completions for 331 yards and one touchdown. Mike Evans was unstoppable with six catches for 105 yards. With that, the Buccaneers move to 5-5 and are suddenly right back in the playoff picture.

The Buccaneers have now beaten a pair of playoff teams on the road, upsetting the Atlanta Falcons back in Week 1. They deserve a lot of credit for bringing their A-game on the road, where they now sit at 4-1.

This team also picked up 116 rushing yards, as Doug Martin ran for 63 on 24 carries. The defense kept the Chiefs in check with 343 yards allowed. Only allowing 17 points also showed that this defense may finally be getting back together.

The Buccaneers are set for their biggest challenge yet when they host the Seattle Seahawks next Sunday. Victory or not, the Buccaneers are not an easy team to play against, and Jameis Winston has shown his ability to come up big against some of the NFL’s best teams.

It’s unlikely that they manage to make the playoffs, but that wasn’t what 2016 was about. It was meant to be a year of progress for the Bucs, who are already one win away from tying up their 2015 total.
